Merit Scholarships & Need-Based Financial Aid
Sacred Heart Academy recognizes that applying to an independent school is a substantial financial commitment to families. We have a number of resources including need-based financial assistance and payment plans in order to make a SHA education possible.
Financial Aid
Financial assistance is made possible through the generosity of our community and their commitment to our Mission through financial donations.
Financial aid is determined based on a family's demonstrated financial need through FACTS, a 3rd party financial aid analysis service that includes an income verification process with consideration to other contributing factors. All information from FACTS remains confidential and is reviewed by the school. Financial aid funds are limited and are reserved for families who meet the criteria for financial assistance.
The financial aid deadline for new students is December 1, 2025. Financial aid applications received after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis provided that there are remaining funds.
1. Complete theFACTS APPLICATION.The online application process is self-guided. FACTS provides a help line for parents at 866-315-9262.
2. Upon completion of the FACTS application, you will need to submit copies of your tax documentation to FACTS for verification.
Merit Scholarships
Merit scholarships are awarded to incoming freshman who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and Sacred Heart Academy’s Mission and Core Values. To be considered for a merit scholarship, students must complete the application process and submit a 500-750 word essay to the admissions committee using the following prompt:
“In your own words, describe your understanding of our school’s mission and how you hope to embody it during your time here.”
The essay should demonstrate:
A clear understanding of the SHA’s Catholic identity and mission.
Personal reflection and sincerity.
Strong writing skills and thoughtfulness.
It is important to note that in accordance with the CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) guidelines we are unable to award scholarships based on athletic performance as this is considered recruitment.
Returning Families
The financial aid application deadline for returning families the deadline is March 31st. Financial aid applications received after the deadline will be reviewed only as funds are available.
