SHA Receives gold status from ap® college board

Sacred Heart Academy has been recognized for the 2023 AP® School Honor Roll GOLD for developing an AP program that creates a college-going culture and gives students opportunities to earn college credit and to maximize their college outcomes. The AP® School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success.

To receive this honor SHA has...

• Enabled 79% of our Class of 2024 to experience 1 AP course before graduating

• Enabled 58% of our Class of 2024 to earn college credit by earning an AP Exam score of 3

• Optimized student's college readiness by creating opportunities for 24% of our Class of 2024 to take a total of 5 APs across their high school years, with at least 1 taken in 9th or 10th grade

Additionally, we’re celebrating nine excelsior students, part of 72,000 students from across the country who earned academic honors from College Board’s National Recognition Programs! The National Recognition Programs honor the strong academic achievements of underrepresented students. They’re an easy way for students to showcase their hard work in high school. The programs not only benefit students. They also benefit colleges looking to recruit diverse, talented students.

There’s so much that makes students like these young women unique. That’s an asset to colleges and programs. The National Recognition Programs help students like them find ways to celebrate that. Eligible students apply on BigFuture. They have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. They’re the top 10% of PSAT/NMSQT® or PSAT™ 10 assessment takers in each state for each program or have earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP® Exams. They either attend school in a rural area or small town, or identify as African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, or Indigenous/Native. They’re invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year. Students who are awarded recognition will be notified at the beginning of the next school year.
