Grandparents’ Day 2018

One of the highlights of sophomore year is Grandparents’ Day, a special traditional celebration exclusively for members of the sophomore class. Grandparents, or special persons in the lives of our sophomores, are invited to visit the Academy and spend time with their granddaughters.

October 23 marked our tenth annual Grandparents’ Day! Sponsored by the Office of Mission Advancement, grandparents spent the morning with their granddaughters and together they enjoyed breakfast, songs from the upcoming musical -  Leader of the Pack, - chair yoga, a welcome from parent and grandparent Joseph Patton, a presentation by Sr.Sheila O’Neill, ASCJ, Ph.D., ’71, a lesson on practicing scientific notation using Scratch - a programming language developed by M.I.T - using the students’ tablets, and a prayer service in the Mount Sacred Heart Chapel. More than one hundred grandparents and special guests joined us for this day.

The sophomores and their grandparents particularly enjoyed their time together in chapel. It was especially meaningful, as each part of the service honored the “strong bonds” between granddaughters and grandparents.
