SHA Virtual Art Show proudly presented by the Fine Arts Department
The Sacred Heart Academy Fine Arts Department is proud to present a Virtual Art Show featuring projects created by students during the Fall ’20 semester.
The fine arts curriculum fosters student’s visual story telling skills and provides them with the tools to problem solve creatively and execute their ideas in all forms of media including drawing, painting, music, photography, video, digital content and 3D mixed media. It is through the fine arts that students can pursue their passions and put their work on display to engage and inspire.
Students who are interested in pursuing the study of art in college have the opportunity to begin building their portfolio of work during their senior year in our Honors Art Portfolio Class. In the beginning of this course, each student’s skills and interests are assessed. This assessment determines the course content and personalized direction for each student.
Cheri Coore ’21, who intends to pursue illustration with a focus on character design and storytelling in college, reflects on her experience in the Fine Arts at SHA “The Fine Arts teachers I have given me a strong balance of creative freedom and structure. I always feel challenged but also excited to use the resources available to create my projects. The community of artists we have at SHA is multi-talented and continues to grow every year. I am always excited to meet new members because of the constant potential coming out of our community.”
Mary Kate Hewitt ’21 says, “I have loved my SHA art experience and I am so grateful to Mrs. DelVecchio for all the help and guidance she has given me.” Much of Mary Kate’s work includes use of acrylic paint, watercolor crayon or colored pencil. She is committed to studying Interior Design at Highpoint University.
