Award Winning Journalist Mackenzie Maynard to Serve as Auction Emcee

WTNH News 8 reporter, Mackenzie Maynard, will serve as master of ceremonies at Open Your Heart—our Annual Auction and Dinner.

Mackenzie, who joined the News 8 team in late 2019, is a native of Boston. She is thrilled to be back in New England after working in San Diego for two years. Prior to her time in San Diego, she spent three years in Washington State. There, she reported during the week, and on weekend nights could be found behind the anchor desk. Her time in Tri-Cities deepened her love for wine as she was situated in the middle of the Columbia Valley wine country.

While in California, she covered many wildfires including the Lilac fire of 2017, covered breaking news along the Tijuana border, and won an Emmy nomination for her breaking news report on a neighborhood plane crash.

An Emmy nominated journalist also recognized by the San Diego Press Club, Mackenzie looks forward to working hard to tell stories for the community.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Mackenzie double majored in communications and journalism and minored in political science. While in college, she interned for the ABC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts where she spent time as a field producer for the morning show.

When Mackenzie isn’t at work shooting her own stories, writing and editing them, she’s spending time with her family, enjoying a workout class or cheering on her favorite Boston sports teams. She is a resident of New Haven.

Join Mackenzie and the Sacred Heart Academy community for Open Your Heart on Saturday, March 21 at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven. To reserve your spot, visit www.sacredhearthamden.org/auction
