Basketball
—Varsity Basketball played a solid schedule in the SCC and the future is bright as our Junior Varsity team compiled a 12 and 5 record.

Competition Team—This team began in December with Dance, Stunting, Motion, and Jump Choreography and attended Tumbling every weekend to improve their skills. They competed in the Quinnipiac Cheer and Dance Challenge in January placing in the top half of the field. They moved on to the SCC in February where they had a setback due to a team member’s injury. Later that month, they rebounded at the New England Cheer Association (NECA) competition placing second in a difficult field. They then moved on to the CIAC Class L State competition in March where they placed sixth out of twenty-five teams and qualified for the State Open Team of the Year competition. The girls placed 17th out of approx. 120 teams in the state. This was Sacred Heart’s first appearance competing in The Team of the Year competition. Julia Ferraro ’19 was voted Competition Team MVP and Ashley Raccio ’22 was voted Game Day MVP by her peers. Julia Ferraro ’19, Chloe Caprio ’21, and Kayla Barnett ’21 were nominated for All-SCC. Julia Ferraro ’19Keara Klein ’20Kayla Barnett ’21Chloe Caprio ’21, and Mia Sandillo ’20 were nominated for CIAC All-State. Julia Ferraro ’19 was named NCA All-American and Mia Sandillo ’20 was named CIAC All-State.

Ice Hockey—The team finished the season with a 19-4 record, ranking #2 in the state for the regular season (17-2) and #1 in the SCC South Division (14-0). They made it to the state semifinals…a huge accomplishment because they fell short last year in the quarterfinals. A big nod to the seniors who helped bring this program from the ground up. Zoe DeFalco, Grace Plunkett, Francesca Criscuolo, Kyleen Crowe, and manager Morgan McNabola were outstanding offensively, defensively, and statistically to make this program what it is today! Sophomores Mia Celentano, Jianna Cohrs, and Jenna Hunt had another amazing season coming up with big game-winning goals. Kyleen Crowe ’19 has been the backbone of the team in net and had a tremendous season between the pipes while Brooke McNabola ’20 had another successful season on defense contributing with her amazing shot from the point. Kyleen Crowe ’19 was named to the All SCC 1st Team and Jianna Cohrs ’21 was named to the All SCC 2nd Team.
