Sallie is a cum laude graduate of Boston College Carroll School of Management and a certified public accountant.
Professionally, Sallie has made numerous advances in her career, working for companies such as Deloitte, Ann Taylor Stores, and The Warnaco Group. Inc. She advanced in the public accounting field early on, and also developed strong leadership skills, managing large groups of people and leading multiple projects. Eventually, she began accepting senior management positions, leading her to her current role at Movado.
Sallie has an extensive history of community involvement. She served as president of the New Haven Junior Chamber of Commerce, organized financial support for vendors and volunteers for the Volvo Tennis Tournament, and served as a member of her parish council. At Sacred Heart, Sallie has served on the Advisory Council for three years as a member of the finance committee and on the Ever Higher—The Capital Campaign for Sacred Heart Academy Cabinet.
“This is an exciting time for Sacred Heart and although I may never be able to fully repay the Academy for the positive influence it has had on my life, I am delighted to help out where I can,” Sallie says.
In commenting on Sallie's appointment, President Sr. Sheila O’Neill ASCJ, Ph.D., ’71 says, “I am elated that Sallie is our new chair. As an engaged alumna and stalwart volunteer, she understands our culture and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of finance, development, and management. I look forward to working with her.”
Sallie and her husband, John, are the parents of two daughters. Antea is currently in her third year at University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Sara is in her first year as a chemistry teaching fellow at The Hotchkiss School as a participant in the Boarding School Teaching Residency program at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
We wish Sallie a rewarding and productive tenure as chair of the Advisory Council.
The Advisory Council also welcomes new members Mary Buckley, P ’18, Peter Schommer, P ’16, ’18, ’20, and Timothy Shannon, M.D., P ’21.
The executive director of IT program management at AETNA, Inc., Mary will serve on the finance committee. She has more than 15 years of experience in delivering large-scale, complex IT solutions to support business objectives in high-risk, dynamic environments, including successful deliveries using varying delivery methods with integrated staffing models including domestic and offshore.
Peter, senior director of marketing at Medtronic, will serve on the advancement committee. He is a strategic leader recognized for dramatically improving business performance in operations and marketing.
Tim, general partner at Canaan Partners, has joined the finance committee. He is a successful and experienced biopharmaceutical executive who has led biopharmaceutical companies as president and CEO, head of research and development, and chief medical officer.
