What support is offered?

Each international student is assigned to a counselor who meets with the student to ensure academic and personal success. A certified pastoral counselor also meets with international students to address their particular needs with social, emotional, and cultural issues. In addition, our educational resource coordinator assesses learning needs and offers support with time management strategies and study skills.

All faculty members are available for help at the end of each school day. Teachers offer scheduled study groups after school for further assistance. National Honor Society members provide peer tutoring to fellow students in a variety of subjects during the school day and after school.

What are the health requirements?

All physicals need to be completed in the United States. Physicals completed within twelve (12) months prior to the student’s date of entry are acceptable. The physical must include an updated immunization record that meets the Connecticut requirement. TB skin tests at time of physical are required for entry if coming from area of high risk determined by the World Health Organization. For any positive skin tests, a note from the Health Care Provider must be submitted indicating a referral has been made for further evaluation.

What are the academic levels taught at Sacred Heart Academy?

All classes are taught at a college prep level, and include core requirements that provide broad exposure across several disciplines, along with an extensive selection of elective courses.

Honors courses are designed to challenge highly motivated students with proven study skills. A minimum 3.5 GPA constitutes Honors and a 3.8 GPA constitutes High Honors.

Advanced Placement (AP) and Early College Experience (ECE) classes are college-level courses and, as such, are more demanding. ECE courses allow students to earn college credit at University of Connecticut and other colleges while enrolled at SHA.
