Our SHA Community

Sacred Heart Academy is a vibrant learning community where each day nearly 500 young women come through the doors and the result is an amazing explosion of energy. Whether in the classrooms, on the sports fields, in chapel, on the stage, or in the hallways—there is a contagious SHA spirit!

Sacred Heart Academy is first and foremost a community where people care about one another. SHA is a place where each student is known and encouraged to develop her gifts. Clelia Merloni, foundress of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus chose as the Apostles' guiding principle the words of St. Paul: “The love of Christ impels us!” It is God’s unconditional and merciful love for each one of us that has been and will continue to be the most important lesson taught here. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides the criteria by which we measure our effectiveness.

The motto of Sacred Heart Academy, adopted over 60 years ago by Sr. Antonine Signorelli, founding principal, is “Excelsior.” We continually challenge each student to grow and to become her best self—the self God created her to be. Therefore the mission of Sacred Heart Academy is to educate the whole person in an environment that encourages integrity, compassion, justice and a sense of responsibility. With a sound tradition of academic excellence, Sacred Heart Academy nurtures the spiritual, social, and moral development of each student.
