The Alumnae Memorial Rose Garden
The Alumnae Memorial Rose Garden is located in the inner courtyard flanked by The Mary & James DiMeo Library, the school/provincialate wing, and the Mount Sacred Heart Chapel/Lecture Hall section. This is a living memorial and any member of the SHA community may contribute to the Rose Garden in memory of a loved one. Donor envelopes are available through the Alumnae Office or donations marked “Memorial Rose Garden” may be sent to Sr. Mariette Moan, ASCJ ’77, Director of Alumnae.
There are 3 phases to the
project. Phase I was completed in May 2008 and consisted of the cleanup and redesign of the area as well as the planting of trees, shrubs, rose bushes, perennials, and annuals in the courtyard. Phase II will address two aspects: the restoration of the area of the Blessed Mother statue just outside the courtyard area and the mounting of a large brass-plated donor recognition tree on the wall leading to the courtyard with the names of the donors and those being memorialized. Phase III will comprise the mounting of a large metalwork SHA crest on one of the inner walls of the courtyard together with the outdoor raised lettering with the name of the Garden.
