Application Process

To be considered for admission, the applicant and her parent or guardian must complete both parts of the Application for Admission and return it to Sacred Heart Academy with the required fee by the deadline specified on the  application. The application includes a  Request for Release of Records form that must be signed by the parent or guardian of the applicant and forwarded to the office of the applicant’s current school. Final consideration cannot be given until all records are received.

Open House

Open House '10 will be held on  Sunday, October 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. We invite you to visit our campus and learn about academics, athletics, spiritual life, and co-curricular activities.

• You will see students at work in 5 science labs, including new physics and molecular science labs.
• You will watch students and faculty use integrated SmartBoard and laptop technology.
• You will find out about orchestra, chorus, drama, and athletic programs as you discover an environment that nurtures intellectual curiosity.

Visit our campus and enjoy student performances and refreshments.

Testing

All students applying for grades 9 and 10 must take an Entrance Exam. Typically the Entrance Exam is conducted the first Saturday in November from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  This year the Exam is scheduled for Saturday, November 6, 2010.

Interviews

Personal interviews are available, but are not required as part of the admissions process. You may schedule an interview until December 3, 2010, by telephoning the Admissions Office at 203-288-2309.  One or both parents or guardians must accompany the candidate since both the candidate and the parents/guardians will be interviewed.

Recommendations and Records

Written recommendations are not required but are extremely helpful in clarifying a student’s application and/or in explaining special circumstances. Sacred Heart Academy must receive school records as soon as possible. Final consideration cannot be given until all records are received.

 Notification

Acceptance to Sacred Heart Academy is based on all parts of your completed application along with the results of the entrance exam and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade records. All applicants are notified of the admissions committee’s decision after January 14, 2011.
