When the Christmas season comes around year after year, many SHA alumnae are taken back to their winters at the Academy. Since December of 1972, SHA has held the Annual Christmas Stocking Drive to benefit New Haven children in need. As the celebration of the birth of Christ draws closer, we are inspired by a spirit of giving and moved to help those less fortunate then ourselves.
The Christmas Stocking Drive is a way for alumnae to get involved with something they loved during their days at SHA. Each December, the stockings are brought up to the altar of the SHA chapel during the annual Christmas Stocking Paraliturgy.
Though this event is not exclusive for alumnae, alumnae are invited to take part in the Stocking Drive along with Sacred Heart Academy’s current students. In this way, alumnae remain connected with the traditions, as well as the fun and meaningful activities that are still part of life at SHA today.
Check back soon for a listing of stocking stuffer items! If you have any contacts with local merchants, please bring donated items to the Alumnae Office during the week of December 2. We will be assembling them on the evening of Monday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 505.
