What is UCONN Early College Experience?
UCONN Early College Experience (ECE) is a concurrent enrollment program that allows motivated high school students to take UCONN courses at Sacred Heart Academy for both high school and college credit. Every course taken through UCONN ECE is equivalent to the same course at the University of Connecticut. Students benefit by taking college courses in a warm setting that is both familiar and conducive to learning. Other highlighted benefits include lending privileges at all University of Connecticut libraries, access to thousands of online academic journals, and admission to virtual classrooms that are exclusively for University of Connecticut.
Sacred Heart Academy teachers who are certified through the University of Connecticut serve as adjunct faculty members and teach UCONN ECE courses.
Established in 1955, UCONN Early College Experience is the nation's longest running concurrent enrollment program and is nationally accredited by The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). The program has been at Sacred Heart Academy since 2007.
ECE Courses at Sacred Heart Academy for 2016-2017
- AP Biology
- Latin IV
- Honors Precalculus (547)
- AP AB Calculus (593)
If a student were to register for all of the above courses, she has the potential to earn 18 college credits, the equivalent of 6 college classes!
Students who are enrolled in UCONN ECE courses must complete all requirements as mandated by UCONN (including mid-term and final exams). UCONN ECE students must successfully complete the course with a grade of C or above in order to receive University credit. The majority of students who take University of Connecticut courses through the UCONN ECE program have successfully transferred their UCONN credits to the colleges/universities of their choice. Students who already know the institution to which they will apply should contact the institutions directly to determine if transfer credits from UCONN are accepted.

1, 2, or 3 stars may require extra effort on the part
of the student to get the credit transferred.
Institutions with 0 stars will not accept ECE credit.
